With the popularity of our Facebook Page – we want to share with you our page posting, and comment rules. These rules are here to help protect the identity of those involved and integrity of Kokomo Scanner. Anyone can post to our Facebook Community Group, incident tips, questions and information. In so doing, the Department recognizes both the statutory and judicial limitations of the Department to legislate, to render legal judgements or to punish.

The Greentown Police Department is located in a small community of approximately 3,000 residents 10 miles east Kokomo in Howard County Indiana. Greentown Police Department is comprised of 2 paid Officers and 4 Reserve Officers: Town Marshal James Skinner, Officer Michael Sanders, Sergeant Isaac Sprague, Officer Patrick Landis, Officer Matthew Westfall, and Officer Darrell Lutz

Located on State Road 26 between State Road 29 and U.S. 31, Russiaville is a town with a lot of wonderful citizens and opportunities. Kokomo Fire Department

Kokomo Fire Department

The Kokomo Fire Department was formed in 1867. At that time the department consisted of volunteers that used a bucket brigade. In 1892, the first paid fire department was formed and Ed Shauman was named Chief. Shauman commanded a force of four firefighters. 

The first fire station was located at the corner of Walnut and Union. The equipment on hand consisted of a horse drawn rig, 200 feet of hose, three axes, and five helmets. The department was not motorized until 1916. 

The Kokomo Fire Department today is a 112 member career department. It provides fire protection to all of Kokomo and Center Township. It also provides EMS engines within the city limits and responds to hazardous material incidents throughout Howard County.

Greentown Volunteer Fire Co., Inc. -Volunteer members provide Fire, Rescue, and BLS protection to Greentown and surrounding rural areas including nearly 3,000 residents and 92 square miles!

Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department

It is the mission of the Harrison Township Fire Department to provide fire protection and emergency medical services, to the best of its ability, to the residents of Harrison Township, Howard County, Indiana.In an effort to accomplish this mission, the Harrison Township Fire Department, Incorporated shall offer equal access to training, continuing education, and volunteer/professional career advancement.An important aspect of our service to the community is promotion via educational campaigns and events in the areas of fire, health, and environmental safety.


Taylor Township Volunteer Fire Department

We provide services with a fleet of Apparatus that are exceptional for a Volunteer Department. We operate two Class A Engine Companies, one Heavy Rescue Company, a 2000 Gallon Tanker for rural water supply and a Brush Truck for field and wild land fires.

Taylor Township Fire Rescue has a dedicated roster of personnel who provide Basic Life Support Ambulance 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We average 400 calls per year for service with a ratio of 73% EMS related calls and 27% Fire or Rescue related.

We also provide and receive Automatic and Mutual Aid from surrounding departments in Howard and Tipton Counties.
